Free Spaces ...in The Hague
Ursula Pahnke-Felder
Just imagine: on an ordinary day, on getting out of the tram, passengers suddenly enter a home. What happens when space, time and place are transformed?

Any space can acquire a new meaning at any time by a change of position. Each moment can be rediscovered through occupying space, by adopting a new position. This is the point of departure of the work of Ursula Pahnke-Felder. By temporarily intervening in the architecture of a space, she gives you the opportunity to adopt a new position. The tram shelter is temporarily transformed into a home, a work of art, that you yourself can become part of. In The Hague, 8 tram shelters are unexpectedly transformed into living rooms. You can decide to use this transformed space by taking place on the couch and thereby becoming part of the work of art. You can also, from a distance, simply reflect, observe the changed space and the other people or because it's fun and funny, just laugh. After a while, everything is returned to its former state. Only photos remain as documentation. However, for the passengers, the tram shelter will never be the same again.
